Common questions
What does stress do to your body?
Your body releases hormones that make you more alert, tense your muscles and raise your pulse. That helps in the short term, but stress that lasts for weeks or months can raise the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and depression.
Can stress cause stomach ulcers?
No. The American Psychological Association says stress does not cause ulcers, but it can make stomach pain, bloating and nausea easier to feel.
What is the fastest way to calm your body?
Slow breathing can bring on the relaxation response: slower breathing, lower blood pressure and a slower heart rate.
